Custom Applications
Packaged software is sold with the middle ground in mind. It has to appeal to a wide audience so
the features you are provided may never be used or application
needs that make absolute sense are not available for your environment.
Whether you need a local application or
world wide and wireless, our development staff can assist you. In
short, anything that is recorded on paper that eventually is re-entered into
a PC is ideal for mobile and web-based applications.
- Sales information including real time
inventory status and dates of delivery.
- Safety and security inspections
- Food service or restaurant inspections
- Maintenance checks
- Damage claims and inspections
- Bridge and infrastructure inspections

Case Study:
A Civil Engineering company was awarded a
large contract to monitor and inspect new construction. At the
beginning of the project, paper forms were easy to manage but the data entry
was taking place in a construction trailer and the constant updating of the
status of the project was soon to be more than could be handled locally.
Each unit under construction required 12
individual inspections plus additional follow ups for discrepancies.
Copies had to be made of the inspection to be given to the job supervisor.
Uplynx created a mobile solution that was scalable to grow with the project
and allowed the client to make changes within the process as variables
changes. This provided an end to end environment for both management and
inspectors.
A Palm-based application was developed
that automated the entire process. This enabled:
- Inspectors to sync all inspections
conducted in a day to update the database. This process took less
than one minute as compared to the hours of re-entry required.
- When the individual inspectors updated
the database, their PDA received new inspections specifically assigned to
them.
- Inspections that were to be conducted
again due to problems were automatically sent to the PDA based on
established completion dates.
- Both on-site and Corporate management
could review the progress of the project and could drill down to the
individual property.
- Aging reports were created so that
incomplete inspections were flagged.
- The Palm application contained the
history of each question of each inspection thus relieving the need for a
box of files.
- Reports were printed on site by using a
wireless interface to a printer that was carried by each inspector.
The resulting benefits
allowed immediate management of a project that grew by the day.
- The data entry had been reduced to
quality control of the inspection.
- Construction was not delayed due to
inspections that were late or not completed
- The printed repots for the jobs did not
have to be hand delivered thus avoiding delays in the cycle of
information.
- The management of deadlines became a
"live" process to ensure proper follow up.
- Support costs were greatly reduced by
creating a program that could be maintained locally.
