Why should I consider using this type of application for my business needs? In other words, what's in it for me?

What is the best use of an application like this?
The application is can be used to gather any information that needs to reside in a database. Your needs could be scientific data, audit/inspection results, sales ordering, or for any other enterprise level endeavor. Think of it in terms of real-time information gathering for immediate use.
What everyone wants to know: what is the cost?
The cost is FREE! Free is a relative term because the cost reductions far off set the initial cost of the application. As is in most buying decisions, the value will always the more deciding factor than the actual cost. The actual cost will vary depending on a number of factors. Simply put, do you want basic transportation, a high performance race car, or teleportation? We can develop an estimate as soon as we work with you and determine your needs. This is not a sales ploy, we simply need to determine exactly what you want. That's what custom design is all about.
Do you provide the handhelds?
Yes. We will be glad to assist you with your selection of handhelds, Tablet PCs, or SmartPhones based on your budget and your needs. We can offer a one-stop solution by purchasing the equipment for you if you would prefer.

How are reports transmitted to the home office?
Data that is recorded by the handheld is downloaded in primarily two ways: through the standard cradle or by a wireless connection provided through a carrier.
How much time is required for the information to be available from a completed report?
The availability of the transmitted information is immediate.
How complicated is a PDA to use?
With very little training, it becomes quiet easy. Remember, you will be looking at much of the same information that you once did on paper but now it is on a screen. Most functions are taps on the screens with a stylus.
How much training do we need?
You will need more practice than training. We feel less than half a day is sufficient.
What class size will you train?
The optimal training method is with a small group. Our "Train the Trainer" concept ensures hands on training to provide the best learning experience. A group larger than four would require more than one trainer.
What type of additional software do we need for this application?
UpLynx will provide the basic software to run and manage the functions of data collection for your handheld. Microsoft Access is needed to generate the reports from the collected information. We can also work with SQL and MySQL.
Is there a license fee associated with each copy of the software?
Some of those solutions require the use of software from third party vendors like Microsoft. When third party software is used as part of the solution, the client must pay the third party license fees for that software. You probably already have it.
Can I use the application on my company server?
It can be implemented on your network but you would need to contact your IT department to find out their requirements.
Our company does not have a server. Do we need one?
No. All you need is a desktop or laptop computer. You do have the option of leasing space on a server that is available through UpLynx if your needs require it.
What kind of support do you provide?
UpLynx provides a full range of support for its solutions. We provide on-site and remote support for software including bug fixes, software modifications, and software upgrades. Changes to software that UpLynx has developed for you can usually be accommodated in a very short period of time, even the same business day. We also provide on-site and remote training for all of our custom designed solutions including any third party software that is included in the solution. Your device manufacturer provides maintenance support for your handheld.
How long does it take to deliver the final application?
Much of this depends on the complexity of your needs. Once the final requirements are decided upon, it may take up three weeks to four months to build, test, and deliver a final product.
